How do I use this website?

This website is a Podcast for audio and video recordings from First Presbyterian Church of Franklin. You do not have to subscribe to this podcast in order to listen to the most recent media. You can simply come to this website whenever you want to listen. If you want new recordings to come to you, then you will either need to subscribe to this podcast or get automatic email updates.

What is a Podcast?

A podcast is rich media, such as audio or video, distributed via a RSS feed. It is kind of like a radio station that broadcasts audio or video in separate episodes. A podcast feeds provides updates whenever there is new content. To use a podcast you simply subscribe to its feed by using one of many podcast readers. Some of the most popular podcast feed readers are iTunes, Google Reader and Yahoo. A podcast reader kind of acts like your email inbox. You can subscribe to many feeds all on one page and when new content is available from the feeds your subscribed to, they automatically show up in the episode list for that feed (just like your inbox).

How do I subscribe this feed?

The first thing to point out is that subscribing to this podcast is completely free! To subscribe to this feed you need use a podcast feed reader or subscribe by email. For example: To use the Google Reader, you must first create a Google account then come back here to this podcast and click the Google link under the “Subscribe to Podcast” section on the bottom right of this page. The same process would work for Yahoo. To subscribe using any reader, you can right click on the orance icon under “Subscribe to Podcast” below and choose copy shortcut. Then subscribe to the podcast by pasting the shortcut into your reader. To use iTunes, you must first download iTunes for free. Then search for PresbyCast in the iTunes store and subscribe to this feed for free. iTunes will automatically download new episodes to your computer.

How do I get email updates?

If you would like to receive automatic daily updates of new media from this podcast, simply enter your email address in the Receive email updates text box under the Subscribe to Podcast section in the lower right portion of this page and click Subscribe. Then follow the directions. There is no other personal information necessary. If there is a new episode on this podcast, you will receive an email notification. The email notifications are only sent once a day and only if there is a new episode.
